The story
We undertook extensive alteration works to this 1980s home. We undertook stripping the existing roof coverings, altering the roof construction, and constructing a new large feature dormer. The octagonal tower was dismantled and rebuilt to a contemporary design.
Opening alterations included the installation of new steel frames, the forming and enlargement of external openings, and the reconfiguration of the interior.
The external walls were insulated and rendered, and the existing 2-level balcony decking that wrapped around the front of the building was structurally rebuilt and finished with new decking and bespoke balustrading.
The internals were completed to a high specification, with bespoke joinery-built ash stairs and flooring, handmade tiles to the bath, shower and sauna rooms, with beautiful sanitary ware and kitchen design.
There were many challenges to this build. The weather played a huge part in the early stage of the build, particularly given its exposed location, being elevated and around 600m from the English Channel.
